Sanctuary

Missing image

Empty, granite slab adorned with Eucalyptus;
Hollow chambers of Gothic memories,
where once the last supper could have
been held in troubled times;

The faces that no-longer look out to us,
linger behind columns carved by hand;
Heaved, stone pillars point heavenwards
in their collective effort to support;

Whispers, chants, add to the mystery
of this hallowed place where peace reigns
supreme, and doves rest a while;Echos of
another time and place congregate here;

Grey halls of scholars, monks and clergy
book-ladened hurry to this quiet sanctuary;
To dwell and ponder their thoughts; Quotations
were born here, wars were won and lost .....

    Lynne this is great! You're right, this picture would go very well with my piece. Too bad I didn't find it when I was looking for a picture LOL. The one I found, I had to cut the guy you saw out of. This is full of imagery and lots of visions floated through my mind as I read through this. Wonderful write!
