Climbing Mountains. (Tanka)

he tells me
of his dreams
climbing mountains
I can see the cloud cover
on the old mans eyes

Life is what we make of it and to live it to the fullest and share the experiences with others is a great gift.
But to sit at the feet of our elders and hear them tell the tales of their journeys and drink in the history and the wisdom they can share is a greater gift.
One of the saddest truths about western culture is our disregard for the elderly and all all they have to give us.
Ok enough rambling - Obviously you struck a cord with me!

I really enjoyed this. You have a talent for some very challenging forms. To be so expressive in so few syllables, words must be chosen carefully. Well done.

    Perfect Poetry

    Dearest Andrew -

You write with such simplistic depth - it is breathtakingly beautiful!

I never really know what to say about these amazingly
clever little reflections on life and the world.
So much discription and passion in so few words.
    I love it.
    Best wishes ~ crisstiena

i'd read the last line as "in" instead of "on" and it does make a world of difference. I've written very few tanka but you are getting me very intrigued. Good poem. I surely enjoyed. Stu
