A Donkey appeared, a magnificent beast;
His grey coat, all shiny and sleek;
With cross on his back, and large trusting eyes
he sat down with the people to speak;
"I carried a young one for many a day"
he told all the young ones around;
Her husband, was Joseph a kind man
who loved her, and Jesus .(renowned
in his day);
Wise men, came a calling; All bearing
their gifts, Mir, Frankincense and Gold
With calves and a young sheep, a lamb,
just a day old; They gathered beneath
the bright star;
The birth of this boy child, remains
now for ever; To guide us and light
up our way; For whatever reason we choose
to adore him, and celebrate our Christmas day;
The Donkey then rose up, and silently left them,
to watch all the stars in their eyes, and as they
looked round them they solemnly promised
to watch for the cross in the sky.........

I am sure Jesus was as nice to animals as he was to people...but they were not called "Donkeys" they were in face Asses...smaller version of the Mule
Glad you liked it

very original!
it seems youhave alot of poems about donkeys. this is very original to tell this story from the donkeys point of view.. i would have used it as an excuse to say ASS alot. but it seems that there could be alot more to this story. cus ill bet jesus was really nice to animals./ -
Thank you Titus
I enjoyed writing this as all children love to hear these stories....Animals often are the best means to enlighten children as "Cartoons" will often show. Thank you once again for the kind words, I do appreciate them

Brillaint!!!
A really beautiful and lovely piece of work, my hat is off to you for this!! -
I enjoyed writing this very much and I do think if you can educate the children, quite often they will in turn educate the adults
Many thanks for your comments

ingenious story-telling!
a cool, ingenious way of telling the birth of Jesus Christ and the role of the donkey( that is usually looked down upon by society foolishly)to children! It also exalts the animal that is usually humbled on earth as it carried the virgin Mary to the stable before the babe was born.It indirectly exalts the 'king of kings' as he rides the same animal symbolically! -
Thank you
I am glad you enjoyed this xmas edition

Thank you so much

I really like this alot. Merry Christmas! very early!

This is wonderful I was just thinking it would be nice to write a Christmas poem myself. I love it, no matter how many times it is told the story and name of Christ is always so powerful
and wonderful at that, this is very interesting as you have a donkey speak and it reminds me of another donkey in the Old Testament the Ass of Balaam where God has the ass speak there too and I do believe the New Testament is the uncovering/unveiled version of the Old Testament.
Best wishes for the Holiday Season. cake -
