Battling emotions that rise to
the surface is like facing the "Titans";
Gigantic sporadic volumes, spoken
in anger and haste;
Clashing of worlds, add fervour to
the mèlèè of frantic verbal abuse,
brought forth by lack of vocabulary
and shortness of breath;
Silence prevails, whilst each gather
respectability as cloaks around them;
Each waiting for the other
to make the first move;
A slight sign of battle fatigue, allows
one to strategically withdraw, to gather
their wits and await the second wave
of emotions;
As with the "Titans", there is always a winner
and a loser; The art, is to show a little compassion;
Allow the loser to feel equal;
That way harmony will reign supreme............

A most excellent piece here.
I agree witht Tammy Knott this is really a fine piece and my husband loves those comic books, they make for some really interesting reading and were it not for the Classics which were comic books I probably would not have read some of the masterpieces. You did well and by the way Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was the inspiration for the origional song. Standing in the need of Prayer as he listened to a sermon by John Ware of Cambridge, England. -
Many thanks for your constructive comments, I do appreciate them

metaphorically speaking
in war as with arguments in life, there is neither victor nor loser!there is no fairness and it is a frenzied battle that takes place as long as each one can afford to waste the energy and time!good comparison verses! -
Yes I agree... life is too short
Many thanks for the kind words and applause

I loved your use of words in this piece. Very intelligent writing. I love poems with good vocabulary. It always helps to build my own vocabulary for my poems and just in general. I think this was a well writen piece and I was drawn in bye the content as well as the writing

Thank you for your kind words... yes sadly all too often it becomes more than a battle field. Glad you enjoyed it

This is a wonderful poem. The art you mention is a lost one for many though. This reads very well and carries a wonderful message. Good work and good luck.
