hypocrites

Hear the cowards describe the hero's fire,
their chests puffed up with undeserved pride.
while their profits from war rise higher and higher,
they turn away from the loved ones of those who died.

See the preacher man, with his Bible in hand,
as he talks of forgiveness and loving the Lord,
but for those who's values take a different stand,
his is the first hand to reach for a sword.

then there's the activist, with her placard held high,
the self-appointed champion of the hungry and poor,
in her five-hundred-thousand dollar castle in the sky,
turning away beggars who knock at her door.

Wow Tahuti what a splendid job you have done here with this one! Every word smack bang boom true!!!! It is sad and a bittersweet reality that we all live constantly in the wake of such perverse things! Not met one preacher yet I'ld trust with my soul!
Yeppers dear you get my applause on this one!

Hey, I liked the rhyming to this and the way you've worded the situations like the priest and the activist. A lot of people are hypocrites, and it's hard to find someone who truly stands for what they believe in. Good luck in the contest, and thanks for the applause on my poem, "Democracy?"

Ahh, I've always liked your poetry, and I can't help but appreciate any well-written condemnation of hypocrites, especially those of the Christian persuasion, as I am very much opposed to Christian dogma. It's one thing for an individual to not claim to follow a particular religion but when they claim to followe a particular moral code and simultaneously ignore it, it seems to me the epitome of hypocrisy. Keep up the good work, call out those hypocrites where they stand!

Oh by the way, I just checked out an excellent short work of Mark Twain's that you may enjoy, called "The War Prayer", this made me think of that.

That was quite brilliant, it had a great twist at the end with all the middle and upper class hypocrites going around nowadays. I myself was against the war and other such events but I am poor so I have a right hahaha.

    bravo

i couldnt agree more on your opinions.

i worte a poem called bible belt slamming religion and posted it, would seem i offened a few ppl with it but religons not about love anymore itsa bout the mighty dollar.

as far as goverments, its not about democracy its about hypocrisy. granted there has been alot of digging on this war lately, it was inevitable, although ironially enough, we are over there cleaning up our own mess. one that we started clear back in the 80s. so in that respect i have to applud our govs efforts in at leats Finally being accoutable.

of course there are perhaps other underlieing agendas, as usual.

as far as economics, this country has too fast beecome the very rich and the very poor.

the scary thing is it is not just here it is everywhre. the mor eppl i meet and talk to online i see it all over the world. sad.

    good observant write.

    Very well done

Well done rant against those whose words and deeds are at odds with one another. Hypocrisy is everywhere you look, these days it seems. And, you've shown a wonderful poetic light into those dark nooks and crannies. Very well done.

Well put. I think we have learned nothing from all the Wars we've inflicted on each other. And still they go on. Keep writing.
