pirate chanty

hoist the jolly roger, lads
and roll the cannons out!
it's time to go a-plunderin'
Thats what a pirate's life's about!

no more time for holy-stone!
put aside the swab!
there's booty off the starboard prow!
it's time to do our job!

hoist the jolly roger, lads
and roll the cannons out!
it's time to go a-plunderin'
Thats what a pirate's life's about!

the Captain shouts the order
to hoist the main sail high
so, sharpen up your daggers, boys,
it's time to do or die!

hoist the jolly roger, lads
and roll the cannons out!
it's time to go a-plunderin'
thats what a pirate's life's about!

The bosun is a salty tar
he's shaped just like a keg.
scurvy's taken most his teeth
hes only got one leg.

hoist the jolly roger, lads
and roll the cannons out!
it's time to go a-plunderin'
thats what a pirate's life's about!

we keelhauled the cabin lad
the naughty little nipper
he lined his arse with broken glass
and circumsized the skipper!

hoist the jolly roger, lads
and roll the cannons out!
it's time to go a-plunderin'
thats what a pirate's life's about!

we've eaten rats for forty days
and drank up all our rum
and yonder ship has food and drink
so, mateys, here we come!

hoist the jolly roger, lads
and roll the cannons out!
it's time to go a-plunderin'
thats what a pirate's life's about!

Haha!! I love this!! A lot of laughs in this one... grand! Ever heard of the Bilge Pumps? They're a pirate band... they would adore this, and you might like some of their stuff too. This is fantastic... thank'ee for entering it into me contest! Good luck!

Bilge Pumps, eh? well, pass it along to 'em. Tell 'em I waive the royalties, but do ask for title credit. Any band that plays pirate music has to be okay in my book.

God, that was great! And it sounded just like pirate talk, too. I've never read a pirate poem before, but this was awesome. Nice one, darlin'. -Amanda

Too bad Iraq is land locked..eh matey..
All this battle zest from a red statey!
Came by my poem, and left no comment,
from my blue state glad you silently went.
I reach out my hand across the divide,
as Americans we're on the same side! Diane

This was very good! And if you want to know why, it was very much because one could tell it sounded like a bar chant without even knowing the title. I could picture a bunch of drunken sailors singing this...Oh it was great! Thank you for entering.
