Self Doubt

Missing image
Here I sit, as on the edge of a precipice
mind telling me one thing, body another
confusion reigns supreme in its rush
for clarity

Another time, long ago when the
world was not mad (or is it me) things
and thoughts were crystal clear with
a knowledge of what was fact not fiction

Drifting from one sphere to another the
time warp undermines my conceptions
of how things should be and always were
to the point where doubt looms

And in the background, the tiny voices
speak, telling of silliness and fiction
adding to this disarranged perception
of normality.

Shaking myself, I gather all reasonable
thoughts and collect them into reasonable
order, allowing myself the luxury of
a quiet moment and solitude................
