A Reflection Of Pain

Hide from the truth.

From Today's mistakes.
Tomorrow's faults.
Yesterday's tears.

Nothing but a mess.

My matted hair.
Smear the makeup.
Look upon every imperfection.

Gaze into the mirror
See the reflection.
A bruised heart.
Tattered and torn.
Tired and worn.

Bloody hands.
I smashed them all.
I couldn't bear to look.
I couldn't stand the truth.

Nothing but lies...
Nothing but lies...

This is me.
My fear, my hope.
My once pleasant dreams
Now Nightmares.

My reflection.
That you cannot see.
My reflection.
The real me.

Author notes

I tried to incoporate all the categories into this poem... I think I accomplished..

None the less. It is about how I hide from looking at the real me. Hide from the hurt, and pain. Act as though life is ok. And that is how I live each day....sad but true.

Thank you for this contest.. It was nice to get this out in the open..

I think many of us do exactly the same, hiding away from the real us, I know I hate looking in the mirror, we are our own biggst critics though. A nicely written poem.
