heat the press

stuck in a modern adaptation
Capulet's vs Montague's
journalists trained
advertisers the target
hatred. rivals. joke?
heat the press, print the news
journalists the Montague's
make your posters
print no regrets
pick your rivals
place your bets
the advertisers the capullets
strangely, amidst it all
the girl, this crazy girl
found herself the best reporter,
promoted herself shamelessly-
now they're front page exclusive news
the rivalry - unbeknownst to the advertiser
(journalist explained the tale)
hopefully their connection will prevail
the drama at her expense
a victim of labels was her defense
program coordinator totally unaware
of the raging arguments and war torn fair
certain teachers were to blame
most of which - I don't know the name
I suppose it's all the same
Pranks started off simple and fine
but worsened and became more evil with time
first were the anti- advertising ads
then the hats, badges and parades in the stands
followed by mischievous emails in devilish hands
furthermore it became exceedingly difficult
to save the work in the computer lab
every opportunity one would puncture and stab
systems crashed, plugs were pulled- this was the end
of the peaceful attacks it was time to get back!
advertisers rallied - gathered and conversed
first campaigning that the media conglomerates
were nothing but scum sucking and paparazzi leaches
then they hit home- they hit the radio, news and TV
telling people to quit buying in, they were being deceived
just when it looked like the advertisers had won
the journalists fought right back
they wrote articles and threw away their integrity
they bashed the industry and blamed the commercials
on societal failure and corporate greed
Montague's and capullets -
what a situational challenge
the journalist was ashamed
the advertiser was defamed
both decided this drama was too much
and considered switching to theatre
Author notes
apparently the journalists are being bread to hate the advertisers and many/ most of the second year students are in a heated rivalry with second year advertisers and so goes the tale. . .
i went out with a first year journalist {fer about a week} and i'm was first year advertiser - so we mused about it. just thought i could develop something humourous out of the whole deal
and then second semester i switched into journalism and learned that the PR students hate the journalists and hate the advertisers....where will it end!?
so basically the journalists are the light and everybody else is the dark hahaah...maybe it's the other way around

Ha! How funny was this? So many of the journalists I see already strike me as being in theater - in their own minds at least. I once took two semesters of jounalism and edited the school paper. It was enough for me to know I didn't want to do it. The way I like to write just never fit within those boundaries. The propensity toward drama seems to be turning into a contagion in many quarters.

I'm glad you like the way my mind works
at least part of me is working!

this is a humorous piece... i love the way your mind works... i also love the story of the Capullets and the Montagues- i unfortunately have a little bit of a Romeo and Juliet thing going on with my relationship too because it's interracial... thanks for giving me a chuckle... keep on writing... keep on being... keep on making art... penumbrapoet
