A soldier sleeps dreaming in Iraq,
his sweet family lingering in his mind,
will he ever see their smiles again,
or will fate once again be unkind.
Dodging bullets is a normal day,
watching for another mortar round,
reading letters from their loved ones,
sitting on the sand covered ground.
They are America's bravest and finest,
brothers, sisters, mother, and sons,
father, friends, daughters and strangers,
fighting terror in the desert's hot sun.
Being away from loved ones is lonely,
pray for there safe return from Iraq,
give thanks to our troops in Afghanistan,
give them a hero's welcome when they get back.
Please thank our troops so far away,
serving our country for me and you,
standing for freedom around the world,
salute Old Glory the red, white and blue.
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS
