i see myself
as the ocean deep
unpredictable at times
but still very unique
life on the surface
is plentiful too!
but the greatest part
i won't reveal to you
i have this fear
of not being enough
and when i feel threatened
i can be quite tough
the essence of me
i know to be true
is i am willing to learn
and expand in my truth
i love to be authentic
without wearing false masks
but still i hold on to some
just habits of the past
expressing my feelings
are easier said than done
but deep down i know
i am whole, i am one
the ocean holds beauty
both on top and below
and i'm ready to discover
my own oceans flow
as the ocean deep
unpredictable at times
but still very unique
life on the surface
is plentiful too!
but the greatest part
i won't reveal to you
i have this fear
of not being enough
and when i feel threatened
i can be quite tough
the essence of me
i know to be true
is i am willing to learn
and expand in my truth
i love to be authentic
without wearing false masks
but still i hold on to some
just habits of the past
expressing my feelings
are easier said than done
but deep down i know
i am whole, i am one
the ocean holds beauty
both on top and below
and i'm ready to discover
my own oceans flow

Wow Richard, what an awesome comment. I believe everyone has the ability and potential to be as vast, abundant and encompassing as the ocean. Explorers in our own right for the beauty that lies within. I have a feeling when we find that place, we will finally realise how connected to all life forms we are. Thank you for such an inspiring comment.

umm, (bear with me i'm thinking and typing--not easy for me)oceans are deep in some places and they seem to be shallow in other places...but where they seem shallow that is where the greatest energy is seen in the form of waves and the crashing pounding sounds of foam and swirl. The ocean's movements are vast, global, encompassing...your thoughts are as vast, maybe more...yeah, a lot more i think and they are encompassing so much of the wonder that you percieve around you. So much of the ocean remains unexplored to this day, you are just beginning your explorations into the deep places of mind and soul. The best part of who you are still reamains hidden, full of mystery, charged with energy...yet to be revealed. Well, that's what i got anyway; what i felt as i read this marvelous exploration of being. Blessings and best wishes, ~richard

What do ya mean, 'not sure if it's any good'??? Good griefyness, Diane...it is exquisite!!! This is an impeccable piece you've done...AND it rhymes, too!!!
Oh, my Friend...this is an intrinsic poem...a Symphony of Self...very lovely...I once wrote the lines, '...You may think you know the Real Me ~ you only know what I let you see...'
My Friend...we all wear our lil' masks...but at least you admit to wearing yours!!! & It is your right to reveal only that which resides within your comfort zone, Sweetheart...you don't have to reveal anything at all!!! But I am so very grateful that we found each other, anyway...
My Friend, Diane A Wondrous Woman...& a Great Human...not to mention, an awesome Poet!!! Brava!!!
