A cold October day sends a chill through to my soul
While I try to keep my scarf wrapped tight around me
I remember those lazy summer days not so long ago
Laying around on the lake and soaking up the warmth
I wonder wistfully will I ever see the sun again
As I make my way through the gray misty day
I long for the sweet kisses bestowed on me
By that warm loving summer friend
It has been at least a week since the rain has come
And now the leaves are slowly dying on the trees
Not in the beautiful colorful way of autumn
But in a lifeless acceptance
Then suddenly my eyes glance to the west
As the clouds slowly start to fade away
The sky is on fire with all the colors of nature
My beautiful glowing friend warms my skin once again
I smile to myself knowing I have not been forgotten

There is nothing more beautiful to me than a brilliant October sunset after it has been raining for more than a week. It gives a person hope.

Came here to return the favor - the sun is shining this morning after a few days of rain -rain - this morning the skies were clear and the moon was full and it was setting in the west as the Earth was setting in the east - it was a beautiful Earthset - I'm a rhymer, but your poem does flow nicely - and expresses your feelings well - my poem "Truth Of The Matter" is about the sun too - Bless God - Joe

Sometimes we forget how wonderful it feels to be in the sun..we need to miss it for awhile to appreciate its warmth again.
Loved your poem! This time of the year is hard on me too. Every day that's cold and gray makes me feel like I'm fading away.
