I love your gull haiku! Yes.....they do seem to be able to amuse thmeselves and stay happy and laughing. Are they laughing at us or with us? I believe with us!

A lovely picture you painted. A really unusual Haiku. I live by the sea and often get fed up of the gulls, but this showed them in a different nicer light. A great write.

Very well done! I live on the coast, and is is true that gulls are very easily amused! Good luck in the contest! I love this poem!
-
Mm. Very novel. Well done. Best

They amuse themselves at our expense! I've only seen gulls a few times in my life and neither experience was good. Excellent haiku capturing the true nature of gulls. Good luck in my contest!

Did you know.....those birds in the photo are called Laughing Gulls? And to add insult to injury, there are NO birds named Seagull? There are many different kinds of gulls, but not one of them is named a seagull. Thought you would find that interesting.

I loved this haiku and it is the first of your poems that I have seen. I think I already love your writing! I love birds too and have been feeding over 300 of them for the past 10 years During my stay in Orlando, FL, I loved feeding the sea gulls white bread. It was so much fun!! Your haiku brought back all those happy memories. Thanks alot for sharing the 'ku. It does indeed have vivid images and a pretty background to boot. Excellent alliteration too! The thoughts flow beautifully as well. Great work, 10/10!

We all have to amuse ourselves some way I think. A hyena haiku might work with this too. A nice poem, you have to love those birds when visiting the sea, don't get your sandwiches out though or you will be mugged.

When I was a kid I use to love to watch birds flying through the air. I wished I could sprout wings and join them. But now I am an adult…….and I still want to.

Our seagulls look exactly like that..lol. Just teasing. I can't imagine what Galveston would be like without the gulls. Excellent write.

Excellent
Hi,
Living by the shore I know this particular bird quite well. You have captured the essence of this creature with a master's stoke. You have packed so much imagery into this haiku my friend! Thanks for sharing and thank you for the lovely comment on my write 'Tears of Wrath' I appreciate it.

I see these gulls at the wharf where I take the boats out to go fishing. And their brothers and sisters seem to find a way to find the boat as we turn to make land after a long day on the water. As the deck hands clean the fish, the discarded pieces land in the trailing foam and the birds dive bomb the wake for pieces of fish. whether greeting me at the dock or on the boat ride home these cacophonous, crashing, fowl split the air with ear-splitting raucous sound that, if you didn’t know better, you’d swear someone was being strangled.
Excellent poem!. Blessings and best wishes, ~richard

I see these a lot here as well as pigeons. It's interesting to watch seagulls fuss and fight over the same bit of food. I have watched in horrific awe at times, if that makes sense. I like this. I like the memories it has stirred. Beautiful Cheryl!

In Portuguese we call the gaivotas, and yes they are very amusing and very playful!

Sweet!
I love the seqence in "Finding Nemo" where the gulls yell:
"Mine! Mine! Mine!" it fits their personality so well.
We have herring gulls around here, they fly up the rivers. Your haiku is factual and sweet.

Yes, they were once great birds of the sea but who can blame them for not being able to resist Cheeto's. haha I love watching seagulls at the beach. They'll fly by and eat the french fries right out of your hand at Gladstone's on Pacific Coast Highway. It is amazing how much their cries sounds like laughter.
I needed an escape from work. Thanks!
Mark
