Last Words

A breath in mist, the only sign of life
A prayer whispered in pain - screaming for thee
With hands shackled behind, kneeling in the rain and mud
He begs thee to care - see his eyes; see his soul
In a circle of hate, they stand and speak of love through death
Take him closer to his fate, seal the solitary man far from you
His lips quiver in the cold, wet and dripping while divinity is hidden
He sees the silent, far away, eyes averted
Raising his pale face to the heavens, he searches for Nirvana
And whispers, "I to thee cometh."
A blade gleames - red - and another god falls

Author notes

This is remake of my poem My Last Prayer.  I took a slightly different route, and ended with a slightly different theme, but I enjoyed this one a lot more.  Although it may not SEEM correct, I purposely chose the category 'Hope'.
