The Love Express..

Missing image
Hop on board 'The Love Express',
One comes along every minute.
Don't be afraid, though it goes too fast,
It feels like love when you're in it!

But if you want love that's forever
And you decide to go for this ride,
After the excitement and thrills are gone,
There's a world of hurt inside.

For when this ride is over,
You'll be lonesome as before,
After the fling, you'll still feel the sting
Of the love that's not there anymore.

So when that love train comes chuggin' along,
I'll just watch as it goes past,
Then turn around and go my own way
Until I find love that will last!

I will post one of my stories soon. It is called "A Two Dollar Wedding." It is about our big day. I hope that when I post it you will read it, and if you do I hope that you like it. We also had a fight a couple of days before our wedding.

When my husband met me, he told his friend that he was going to marry me (and we hadn't even said hello yet!) It took him awhile to convince me (we dated a year and were engaged for a year before we got married). We had an argument two days before the "big day" and I almost called it off. He had to do a lot of talking to get me to go through with it. LOL

That train of love when it is the right one is great, but when it is the wrong one is terrible. I like everyone else--I guess--had a love or two that were completely wrong, but when I found the right one I knew. Carolyn and I had been dating about two or possibly three weeks when I realized that we would get married someday. It took about three years to convince her that we should. I love this poem, because it is so true.

Great write Maureen, and even better observation. Casual love and one nite stands may be good for a temporary thrill but in the long run leave us feeling hollow and cynical (my opinion). It is too easy to be careless in love. Great reminder.

I would suggest you jump every train or you may just miss the one with beautiful bucket seats that fit your contours perfectly!

I have to disagree with Chris K, In my case true love is effortless, 22 years married plus 4 years dating. an eternity wouldn't be too long a time spent with love.

What a quick-moving choogling down-the-line express of the motion of love --- you are so right! True love takes time and effort! They used to have a bike run up to Silverton from Durango ... very much an uphill and vertical effort ... and, did you know, the run was always called the over-forty run cause people over (not under) had the stamina to finish it while the youngsters ground to a halt burnt up in the first 10 miles ... at any rate thats what this reminded of ... stamina like a train ... love going the distance ... excellent! glad you re-posted :-)chris

Beautiful and sad, very moving write. And, Maureen, you will find love, because you are a loving person, and somebody out there is meant just for you. My heart will beat with yours until you find him! The true love, the kind that lasts beyond infatuation. *Hugs* ;)Kelly

I know exactly what you mean Maureen. I've fallen in love a few times, but now I know what true love is and I feel it grow everyday. Beautiful expression of your feelings on the subject. Very creative approach.

I am wary of infatuation...it feels great for a little while and then, just as quickly as it began, it's over! These are my feelings about 'falling in love' vs. 'true love'.

This is great, Maureen! So simple yet gets the message across - I particularly like the beginning. Did you write from your own experience?
