Amazing how a simple word
Can change a persons face
It’s something only we can do
And no one can erase
It takes away a simple frown
Replacing it with hope
It cheers you up when you are down
Helping you to cope
It glides along your softened lips
And moves up to your eyes
Leaving tiny wrinkles that
We so often despise
But what we tend to overlook
When lines are all we see
Is that we have a happy past
Now etched in memory
Can change a persons face
It’s something only we can do
And no one can erase
It takes away a simple frown
Replacing it with hope
It cheers you up when you are down
Helping you to cope
It glides along your softened lips
And moves up to your eyes
Leaving tiny wrinkles that
We so often despise
But what we tend to overlook
When lines are all we see
Is that we have a happy past
Now etched in memory

I liked the rhyme scheme a lot. The story was so sweet and true. I love my laugh lines because it means I have enjoyed life. Thanks for entering and good luck.

some beautiful lines!
Oh yes - a lovely priase of happiness and its outside-clothing! I really enjoy the phrase 'It glides along your softened lips'... So simple, and SO effective!

Oh. This is a great little poem that you have going on here.
I like it. It was fun to read and it had a pretty good rhythm to it. I liked how you took your initial thoughts on a smile and stretched them out to show how wonderful you thought a smile was and all the things it could do for people. My favorite part was the last part about how wrinkles are etched in memories. That's really clever!

Really Cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a light hearted and airy piece of poetry you have penned here!!! I t is amazing how a simple smile really can go a mile in someone's life. And we may never know what an impact it can leave. I liked your rhyme scheme in this an it flowed magestically, It spread hope and inspiration at least for and it is better than reading all the sad, angst and other poetry on here that brings you down in the dumps. So to yu I send a {SMILE} and my thanks for the smile you gave me from reading this piece!!!!~~Toni~~

A wonderful reminder to all of us. And so true we despise our smile lines. There was a loving rhythm flowing through your poem. Well Done.

So glad you enjoyed it. I had just got off the phone with my step sister, who was having an awful day and at the end of the conversation I just said; Smile - no one can take that from you. It's yours. Those are exactly the words she needed to hear then, so i decided to put it into a verse to share with everyone. Glad it cheered you up.
