On the bombing of a Black church in Birmingham, Alabama, 1963
This poem was recited back in 1998 in my speech class. Its my favorite!!!. I received a mere "c" from my professor; however I received an "A" from my peers. The room was at an stand still. The capital letter of A is intentional and lower case c 'as well' intentional.
Beautifully metered piece that tells a wonderful story.
We have a different perspective now and viewing from a distance it becomes hard cold historical fact. Here you have put the passion back into our memories. We say it must not happen again but dear friend it will because people do not learn from history.
Passionately written with great candor.
Absolutely, an exceptional write! Most impressive flow and tone! I enjoyed the read! Many Blessings.
This is a pleasure to read for the honor of it. However, sad. Thank you for posting this exquisite poem.
We had to read this in English class this past year and I actually found I liked it. Usually, anything that woman assigned irritated me, but this was actually a good bit of work that made me both feel and think.
Oh my god........I can't stop crying right now. Really brilliant poetry. There are so many aspects to the poem that make it so brilliant - the touching insight into a mother's feelings and concerns, the child's patriotism and enthusiasm, the expressive imagery used, etc. The bombing is one of the many black marks on human history - let us remember the victims and pray for the peace of their souls.
