Tepid Tangerine

Rambunctious red is not my favorite hue
Nor vibrant violet or engaging green
Not even the brightest and bluest blue
My most cherished color is tangerine

Ordinary orange is not ideal
Though passionate purple might catch my eye
Even inky indigo has appeal
But my love for tangerine I can’t deny

Boring black is just so over rated
As is achromatic and washed out white
Gloomy grey is like being sedated
Why not surround yourself with colors bright?

Ordinary orange has been sun kissed
By youthful yellow’s brilliant sweetness
My paint brush mixes these hues with a twist
Bringing tangerine warmth and completeness

Tepid tangerine can warm up my day
What better color to wear and display?

Forgive me for not recognizing your name (you must have changed it). I've been gone a very long time, two years to be exact. I'll have to stop by your page and try to figure out who you are.

    Fantastic!

It's been a while since I last visited here, but I'm glad I came back! What a delightful, playful story. It contains a great rythym and flows from line to line. Not to mention great imagery as well. It's interesting how, in its simplicity, you've managed to create characters out of everyday colours. Very well done. Thank-you!

I don't really have a favorite color. I think I like pretty much any color as long as it is lively. Plain orange though has never been a choice for me, and neither has lime green. I like certain shades of each color, and yes tangerine is far more beautiful than plain old orange(oh and it is also one of my most favorite fruits--I like them better than oranges too). Excellent job on this one. I loved it.

    very good

Really well done. I was amazed to find that the favorite color of car sold in North America was silver. Such a dead colour. As a youth my favorite was always orange but now I have matured to blue.

    Great poem.

Hey this is absolutely wonderful, the flow and rhythm just fantabulous, and you're a knack with form, why even the fonts are in tangerine, maybe a bit off tepid, i think it's just the colorfic settings on my PC, but I thought this was absolutely wonderful! You take care now!!

lol, why is it then that you refer to your brilliant tangerine as "tepid"? I would've thought you were a vibrant violet person just by looking at you When I was in the eighth grade, I once wore a red skort set to school--but I guess it must've been faded, since everyone thought from about 20 feet away it looked orange! That day, someone alerted the entire school that there was a tangerine walking down the hallway. The name stuck, unfortunately, even though I don't particularly care that much for the color orange. People still call me "Tangerine" to this day!

Well, I have enjoyed your entry. Lovely flow, rhyming is perfect, and beautiful descriptions as well. Good luck!

    Many blessings,
