I will not use my hands for the devil.
I will not sell my soul for it is not mine to sell.
I will not be afraid to bleed, you are here to protect me.
I will not eat the bread, if there are others who are hungry, AMEN.

When I wrote the poem I was thinking of the pray from the cathoic faith that is used for communion. This is body, this is my blood.... It was said by jesus to those that followed him, if we ate the bread that was his body and drank the wine which was his blood we would receive everlasting life...
It is my responce to his offering to us, or myself. -
This is wonderful! For the contest criterion you are stating that Jesus is God are you not 'Give me your blood, and I will drink it to remember.' and this must be why you believe 'you are here to protect me.'

I am glad that you all enjoyed this poem... This is the first poem in a very long time I did not have to sit and think about or crumple up a million pages. This flowed out of my mind into my fingertips like it was ment to come out for people to see and read. I only hope it touches other people the way it has touch you and has touch my own heart.
