This was published in Bukowski's book "The Last Night of the Earth Poems" circa 1992
This poem makes me feel like I can write. It makes it all seem easy. It's not, but that is why we love him.
I think I should be reading more Bukowski...
I really like this poem :+) I just like how you're saying there's a bluebird inside a man, it's cool
Someone I loved posted this poem for me to read because he couldn't tell me how he felt. Yes, I weep because I had to move on...and he stayed in the dark alone.
I have a few poems by Bukowski on my list of favorites and this is one...good to see it here...PK
This is brilliant. Thank you for this poem.
I *edit by mod* love Bukowski. He's an *edit by mod*, but he's also kinda brilliant.

Bluebird is about as unlikely a reference as you're likely to find in Buk's poetry let alone see it as a title, let alone an entire theme to a poem - and I reckon Buk reveals himself in this one in a way he very rarely does. There is no hint of cynicism, self-deprecation, cool, jaundice, cleverness or anything else - just a diificult-to-acknowledge, long, hard look at himself and his own unmistakeably soft centre with which, I'm sure, he was always more than a little uncomfortable. His poems always 'speak' to me - but this one positively sings. Thank you, Hank. Windhover.
Buk. What else can anyone say?

Desperation in captivity. Beautiful poem!
WindSong
beautiful.
Very deep and heart breaking in a beautifdul way.
the poem that started my love of poetry.
i think he suffered a lot and was very tortured and lonely inside. the bluebird represents raw emotion and love that he was to afraid to show for obvious reasons.
