Last Hurrah

You want to tell us
that's it's good for our country.
yet tell me one thing.
why do you presume to know everything
when you simply won't listen
to the common folk?
you tell us that we don't
know the whole picture,
yet it's you that hide
behind corporate funds
and power,
then laugh behind close doors
thinking we are simply ignorant.
Are we the fool?
hmmmm....
or could it be
within the next election
we may have the last laugh?
think about it my friend
when you try to push
that last bill
or amendment
to take away our freedom.
pay back
could be around the corner
as we smile to your
last hurrah.

Read this and your other piece. You have a way of stating the views of many people (here and in the other parts of the world). Politicians seem never to believe the people "mean" what they say, have brains enough to even know the subterfuge behind their bragging about bills to be passed. Amazing how often the bill that has "their" pay raises DOES get passed attached to a bill "for the people" et al. Thanks too for coming to my site and commenting on 'Heart's Cry'. Though I don't know if chivalry is gone...it would be nice to have those days back, but only for the more romantic version of it that we as writers produce of a violent era...lol. Rose

    well done

wow side,i really agree with your poem!!! we need public officials of integrity, and i feel at this moment,we don't have any!!! i pray almost every night that God will put good public officials in office, and help out the little guy, that would be nice!! when i read this poem,i thought of the saying power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. so maybe no matter who is put in office, they may all let their power go to their heads like Bush has done!! God only knows!! great poem,it really makes you think, and i respect that!!! keep up the great work, hugs and much love nbf

I sure hope that his last hurrah is coming up, but I don't know that Kerry is any better. Sometimes I wish I could just hide from what is going on in the world.

    Excellent

Great write. Interesting subject. I'm glad you wrote this actually, because it is strong and applies to todays politicians, especially the president. I enjoyed it.

Why in the world does he think he has the right to tell people how to live and what to do? He's an idiot in the greatest senses of the word, and we are getting him out of the White House on November 2, 2004. The day before my birthday I might add. What a great present that would be.

I am insensed for him to even think of creating an amdendment for anything as personal as marriage. He thinks he is God, judge and jury. I hope the people of this country show him what our feedom really means and get his ass out of our lives. Sorry had to say that. Great write!

sometimes I believe you have to say what you feel.
Irreguardless of the side that you take.
To me it's freedom of speech.

I like these little personal political rant writings of yours. You say what you feel and make no apologies or excuses. And you do it without being so crude and in your face. Good for you! I have great respect for work like this. Well done my friend!
