Freda, you have been so kind in your comments to me-- I'm very grateful. I can't help but believe that if you could get over your terror of them, you would excell at haiku-- just as you do at your other writings!

    Regards,

    Melinda

Tina, I had to laugh, I'm sorry! Persimmons are the most bitter, foul tasting things and the taste lingers in your mouth-- when they are not ripe. After the first hard frost hits them, something magical happens and they become so sweet with creamy flesh! Yes, possums are funny and strange creatures, with perpetual grins. I have one that visits occasionally, raiding the cat food bowl, not to forget the aforementioned persimmons!

    Thanks for your comments!

I know that ole possum. He knows when those persimmons fall and grins like crazy. You must know him, too, because you've captured him in a very unique way. Stu

I've never eaten a ripe persimmon, but when I was a child, my father tricked me into eating an unripe one and I can still taste that bitterness! I know I must have made an awful face This made me smile. Opossums are just plain funny
