Pop Culture

Happy and mindless,
We follow each other.
Blind leading the Blind.

We have become animals
Led to the slaughter.
Content, because we know
Nothing else.
Opening up our minds
to be force fed.

Carefully,we pick and choose
What and what not to care for.

A perfect, happy society,
Of Blind leading the Blind.

Yep, that is exactly what societry is being formed into. It all negociated my television and radio, the only free thinkers anymore are the ones that pour their souls in their art and passion instead of following the trend of an oncoming fascims.

Haven't talked to you in a while, thought i would see what was up. THis poem is great...awesome blossom.

The lines in italics really mean a lot, they are powerful, and unfortunately true. Great expression of a downfall in society today. I'd applaud if I had points left. >.<

Its so funny, there are so many people out there who see the same thing. And so the same things. Its true most of this world is a pop society...but dosnt everyone follow everything? There are those few who follow themselves. But even those who call themselves "goth" or "Punk" are following something, the blind leading the blind. Everyone dose it, and no matter who you are your following something. But I understand what you mean, I see it everyday. very very good poem. In fact I like all your poems. Good work!

Nice poem...people are pretty blind to what's going on around them...we're all being told what to do, think, buy...our society sucks...your final stanza makes a good point...we're even worse because we like the way we live...

    Very true.
Blind leading the blind and the people with the vision too timid to stand up and make the noise

I agree with the concept that the "blind is leading the blind" Too much conformity in society today and not enough people thinking for themselves.

A well expressed piece with a strong message. Thanks for sharing

It DOES sound like it would make an amazing song. One of these days I may just have to ask your permission to play around with a couple of these lines and add them to a set of lyrics or something. *is babbling* I thought this write was totally amazing, I loved every single word, it's so powerful. And maybe I can relate because I'm at high school age so... there you have it

Is this a song or something? It looks like one. Anyway, this is grating. It sounds like a Metallica song, surprisingly. Anyway, I like this one. Keep it up.

I wouldn't be so hard on pop culture. There's always going to be a pop culture because quite frankly that's all a lot of people can absorb. People interested in ideas are a minority, and it's probably always going to be that way. No sense in being too elitist about it.

only if the drones of society are a part of this 'Pop Culture' in which you speak of, if they aren't then they are not the 'blind leading the blind' they are just the audiences watching the 'blind leading the blind' and in that regard ..

    pass the popcorn.

one small suggestion... 'because we now' should be 'because we know' shouldn't it? other than that i think this is awesome, because it's true... 'opening up our minds to be force fed' that line's really cool... nice write,
