She looks back with unblinking
expression, as she takes in
all that is on offer from this
planet ; calculating the deaths, the waste
of lives, when numbered as expendable;
The poison, in mouths of babes, granted
by insecticides and pollution;
Family segregation, caused by famine
or civil war, leave orphans in their
millions, unloved and in despair;
Great lakes and rivers, filled with
dead fish, trees, uprooted for human
greed and the unborn, crying for
a better world, to be born into;
She looks again, and sees the moon and stars,
whole galaxies beckoning, as she turns,
she sighs the sigh of sadness...............

You are a sweety night hope, and yes I know exactly what you are saying, this was written from a photograph as an inspiration as I was stuck for a subject, the poem suited the picture, but I couldnt d/load it cuz it was too darn big
so.... Yes we have much beauty around us and lets be honest, it is all we are going to have so we have to make the best of things, I appreciate your time that you spent explaining the beauties that remain. Many thanks my friend they are so welcome

It is so sad what the human race has done to this place we call home! Mother earth has been ripped, Torn, Beaten, and Raped by the cowardly ways of the beasts known as the Human race! We take take take and never give back eventually we shall be in dire need of those things we destroyed and then what will happen what will we do>IT WILL BE TO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCELLENT PIECE! Way to step up and tell it like it is!

Well done
Our sensibility about pollution and habitat destruction is better than it was in the 20th century. I'm with you, because it was the writing about waste, contamination and exploitation that brought about this change, beginning with Silent Spring by Rachel Carson, about DDT, a banned insecticide. We need more writing about inhumanity to bring about the change to universal human rights and respect. Well done.

Echo Anasuya's comments re: theme...I have read quite a few just in the past 2 days...many about the travesty of war...others political writes...I think yours encompasses all that & so much more, Lynne...I know it's in my Nature...but I still gotta say it...there is still so much Beauty in the World, people...all we need do is look...yes, we are in a world of hurt...but there is still so much Good to be found...so much Truth in the midst of lies...so much compassion in the midst of horror & barbaric practices...two sides to every coin...years ago, when Friends would say they didn't want to bring a child into the world because of all the evil, I'd point out, 'yes...but for every Hitler, there is a Michaelangelo.' I see the Hope, the Love, the Truth, the Beauty...& if you knew of the past year...let alone the past 46!!! that I have lived...you'd be amazed by my attitude for sure!!! It does not come from innocence or naivete!!! In SPITE of what I've seen...be well, my Friend...a worthy read, to be sure...a real think~piece!!!

Maybe it's a theme. I've seen quite a few poems depicting the sad state of affairs in the world today. Perhaps it's an over-all message that we should be getting already. lol. Wonderful write. The imagery was vivid, raw and not so emotional that the poet can't make of it what they will.

It's kind of frightening to see what the earth's become/becoming. Excellent poem to show how we should protect each other and the earth! I applaud you!

A deep shade of blue. The blue planet (viewed from space, marbled by clouds). The universe is so vast that it is probable that a living planet dies of natural causes anytime, (supernova, instability, meteor strike etc.)
Most deforestation is made by poor people seeking subsistence by growing their own food.
The evils of the world only underline the fact that life is a changeful, imperilled state, normatively.
The welfare of the living worlds always asserts and overcomes - life is more versatile and enterprising than the monoculture death.
There are always worlds with living beings; above and below man and for all his vices, man is great.
