Bukowski for a walk

his inspiration utters a
rattling sigh as he sits
on a rock in a yellowed forest.

there is an imprint on his palm
of a dancing skeleton
with a stupid top hat.  it is
ingrained from prolonged clutching
of a drained flask.

he grins slightly
missing teeth
amused at mosquito's attempts
to penetrate cracks and islands on his face
dried
like mud.
