bewailing willing sins of mine.
Rejection made the pain I felt,
I strove to lay it on the shrine.
In tearful prayer I heard a word
so voiceless that I knew its source
by any other was not heard;
so silent, yet with potent force.
My daughter, so it said to me,
Look up. And hanging up it was,
the cross of Jesus there to see;
and looking, wondering, I paused.
This cross is symbol of my love,
this awful deed I did for you.
Do not despair, for we above
do not despair in loving you.
Through many hardships I have come,
in darkness wandered far and long,
but faith has ever risen from
my hearing of this silent song.

it is such a relief to know that I am not alone having such experiences ... mine mostly happen in dream ... your poem is a source of encouragement and consolation for those who read it ... it transcends religion and cultural differences for one who knows how to inhale its essence ...
thank you for such a profound sharing of your heart,

marion

You are far from alone! Dreams are also a potent form of communication with the unconscious, as you know; this has been known since antiquity.

Congratulations
O)n your gold trophy. This is a poem of experience one normally expects to hear as the call to a novice in a nunnery. The reality is that if Christianity means anything, it means this belief, this Faith to live by. I am glad that Church-going in Australia has dwindled. Only those who partake of the Holy Communion through commitment and not habit are worthy.
Conviction is all.

Thank you
Dear Ron, there are callings which are just as sacred as holy orders, and responsibilities which cannot be put down once they are taken up. Faith is not a shield from life, but sometimes the only means by which we can continue. Conviction is all.

Yes, it is a great comfort.

Oh wow! What an experience this must have been for You!!! I can see this happen just by reading your poem, imagine with you it did happen. Oh my goodness...this is something that I'm sure gives you time and again the re-assurance that you are not alone in life...that He is with You. Is it not? I love the flow of this poem...its like a song and I did not find any forced rhyming or work in this. Infact, I love the rhyming, meter and flow of this poem. Heartiest congratulations on winning the Gold on this in Maatkara's metaphysical contest. Very well deserved win.
All the best in all you do my bird-loving buddy,
hugs and kisses,
Charishma

This was a beautiful poem. It is at our lowest points that the Spirit will call us to him and remind us where to turn for the answers we seek. I think his love is amazing and what he does for us as equally amazing. If we never forget this than we can find peace in our lives that he will guide us where we need to go and get us through. Congratulations on your Gold this was a very deserving poem!

Margaret ~ I found this so profoundly moving, my Truth & Beauty meter was off the scale! Your simple eloquence and poetic style, without embellishment, is pure clarity and perfection.
An inspiration to all that there is always Hope, and Grace IS.
Blessings always,

The comfort of forgiveness and love exemplified by this experience and the peaceful silent song of it have a quiet power to inspire those around you with these words. A flawless poem in many ways.
-
A very moving and inspirational write here my friend. God has shone His presence to me on many occassions. At times I chose to refuse to recognize Him, and other times delighted in His Majesty. This is one of those times your words allow me to see His power. Excellent! Good luck in the contest.

Margaret,
This is so lovely. I loved this piece. You have written a wonderful poem of faith and spirituality. Yours is the same as mine, so it was very meaningful to me. Thank you for this beautiful poem.

Thanks Joan! I did write sigil, meaning a seal or powerful device, but the nuances are not exactly what I want. I'm replacing it with "symbol".
-
Dear sweet pea, very beautiful my friend, what a wonderful vision to see, very uplifting piece my friend~Love ~Joan
4th stanza, 1st line~is that meant to be sigil or signal?

Inspiringly Good
This is a beautiful poem and appears to be a life experience poem or, if not, creatively so well done it seems as to be. Very uplifting to read and remember to LOOK UP.
-
This is beautifully written - the meter is absolutely flawless and the rhymes aren't even slightly contrived. Not only that but you really captured a quiet faith and an intensely personal experience here without resorting to overblown imagery or seeming at all self-righteous - quite a lot of the religious-themed poetry on here tends to make one feel inadequate, but this does just the opposite - it made me feel that there is someone or something looking out for us, and we're all equal. Beautifully done.

They have to be judged by their fruit
I LOVE that you said that! I think that is the basis for the goodness and rightness of a person, no matter what or where they are at in life... -
Thank you Duana. This is a very fuzzy area in religion, and I would not disparage myself for not having such experiences.
Voices have been viewed dimly, and rightly so, for the divisions that some have caused. They have to be judged by their fruit. I trust this one because it has built up my health and faith.
-
this is a beautiful sharing of faith. the fourth stanza is my favorite and the message it relays mirrors my own beliefs. you have written a wonderful poem of spiritual experience. when we encounter that certain Presence the memory stays in the heart forever.
-
This is beautifully wriiten. I have never had a Christian religious experience though I have longed and prayed for one, so it's hard for me to be a believer in Christianity. But because I know so many people like yourself have(including family), it makes me think that people like you were meant to be Christians, and for some reason I am just supposed to follow a different path. It's all probably connected anyway
Great experience.
