Elfin children go out to play
Among painted flowers they sing,
' Please pixies come and dance today.
What magical gifts will you bring? '
Elders laugh as they watch the sight
Of childish fantasies and dreams
With masked envy of their delight
And hidden fears of pixies schemes.
Children know what adults don't see
As pixies flutter and frolic.
But from adults pixies flee
To dodge the feared melancholic.
' Please pixies come and dance today.
What magical gifts will you bring? '
The toddler prince found it one day
A mystical emerald ring
With masked envy of their delight
And hidden fears of pixies schemes
The prince kept the ring out of sight
While pixies whispered in his dreams.
Children know what adults don't see
As pixies flutter and frolic.
Hiding the truths of what must be
In their playful childish rollick.
Among painted flowers they sing,
' Please pixies come and dance today.
What magical gifts will you bring? '
Elders laugh as they watch the sight
Of childish fantasies and dreams
With masked envy of their delight
And hidden fears of pixies schemes.
Children know what adults don't see
As pixies flutter and frolic.
But from adults pixies flee
To dodge the feared melancholic.
' Please pixies come and dance today.
What magical gifts will you bring? '
The toddler prince found it one day
A mystical emerald ring
With masked envy of their delight
And hidden fears of pixies schemes
The prince kept the ring out of sight
While pixies whispered in his dreams.
Children know what adults don't see
As pixies flutter and frolic.
Hiding the truths of what must be
In their playful childish rollick.

YAY! This is very cute, I love how the adults cant see the pixies.. I think pixies are trouble makers. This is a great write, keep writing and have an uber shiny day!

BIZARRE-
but i liked it. It has a strange rhythm to it-it kept me reading all the way down. It seemed to come off disjointed a little bit-which helped your style move along too. The end was unexpected, something about a selfish prince and his emerald ring, and didn't make much sense to me. But it just seemed to "fit" too. -
thank you for entering this contest.

I am going to read this to my daughter. She would really enjoy it. It like the way it flowed in almost a musical sense. I like this line...
‘Please pixies come and dance today.
What magical gifts will you bring?'
I could almost hear a small chid asking it.

This poem is awesome, and I am not just saying that because I am biased.
This truly is a wonderful tale, and I can clearly envision these elven children skipping in a circle, singing, and dancing, and wishing for pixies to play with. I look forward to reading the next instalment in your series. Oh.. and you are very welcome.
