who is god

what is religion?
Is it the truth?
can anyone ever really know what it is?
religion is not the truth
but not a lie
religion is a guess
who is god?
Which god exists?
for if my god exists to me, and another to my neighbor
then do I fight the ideas of my neighbor?
no I cannot, and yet I cannot submit to the theories of others.
God is a guess
a guess if it exists
a guess of the gods sex
a guess of what form god takes
Is there only one
or more than one.
are gods real
or are they only made real by our beliefs
Zeus may rule the heavens
or maybe his rule was not but a myth
Those with a god recieve praise from others who share ideas
yet those without gods unite in their beliefs as well
maybe, just maybe if religion is just a guess
maybe we are not real, and we only exist due to someones belief

This is a great question poem! Religion is a guess. I agree with this. Religion only exists because man made it so, created the god they would worship and hoped that they were right.
How profound to think that we only exist because someone believes that we do!
Thank you for sharing, and good luck in the contest!

for some reason this reminds me of some bizar theory I heard in Physics class. It said that we only exist because someone else is thinking of us at the time. Then we were told to prove that we exist once we steped out of the room. Your ending to this poem made me think about that. It was certainly an interesting poem.

    religion is a guess...

I really like the questions you've posed in here. Yes, in answer to your author's questions/comments, it does indeed make me think. However, I feel like this poem could have been better organized. You pose some genuinely interesting question, but as for the format as which you do that in, it's a bit meandering. Still, I like the questions, I like the main idea...I like the mention of Zeus. Very nicely done. ~EL d
