911 Tragedy - A Reminder

Billowing towers of black death
The cruel terrorist's breath
Breathing down the neck of America
As we watch in horror, the deadly extravaganza

Raining down concrete,and desperate men
Fleeing from death,in the tower they're in
Onlookers cry; onlookers shout
Wondering what these attacks are about

But there is no reason for this violent act
Only pure hatred, making their contact
It doesn't make sense,it doesn't seem real
The whole violent scene seems more than surreal

Driving to work to see such a sight
Seeing the planes on their final flights
Just two minutes late, saved by grace
Someone else will die in their place

The towers are crumbling as are the spirits
Of the American dreamer who won't stand to hear it
As the sirens are moaning their beckoning calls
To save lives from the fallen tower walls

But while we have suffered such a tremendous loss
The selfish aren't giving this second thoughts
They're pointing their fingers,blaming someone
For the hatred that has long since begun

Won't you think for a moment before you debate
About the lives that were lost, the workers who were late
About one of the worst attacks in our history
About the September 11th tradgedy

Author notes

Dedicated to all the lives that were lost in the towers, and to the brave passengers on the doomed planes.

There are some people I know who are saying 'It didn't happen in my country. Why should I care?' and 'Thousands of people die everyday from disease. Those people would have died eventually anyways.' 'More people die of starvation. 9-11 was nothing compared to the numbers of those who starve to death.' and so on. It sickens me that that people would say those things. Congrats on a brave write. I appreciate it.

Eh, it wasn't the greatest write, but I suppose I can't bash this too bad without being dubbed a terrorist, huh? ha, just kidding.

Uh, I will say though with as much patriotic courage as I can muster up: I didn't like it. I appreciate that you tried, but near the end it seemed like you were struggling for interesting lines to tie it all together.

Good try though, I agree with imnopoet... it take3s guts to write about 9/11. Definitely.

Somehow, I think you'll get a lot of applause on this poem. Just a hunch.

But it takes bravery to write a poem about 9/11. Since the event was so dreadful, a poem has to really be stirring for it to be good. And you pulled it off. Great job.
