Live!

Dance with your senses
Like a dancer of flamenco
Bold and rouged and slender
Flashing eyes of fire
Witness the desire
To dance, to live, to be!

Dance with your senses
Commit to the abandon
Colour thought in scarlet
Gold and deep organic green

Revel in the texture
Wallow in conjecture
Capture the kaleidoscope
The hallowed state of being

Dance with your senses
Extract its very essence
Inhale the heady fragrance
Set your spirit free

Unfold like a flower
Release your latent power
Awaken you the giant
Asleep within and be!

Dancing in any shape or form gives release to the senses.I love to dance and your poem swept me away in time to the music, Ros

ea, thanks for reading. I realize not everyone shares the same appreciation..I am sure you discovered that from the comments on your own work. That's cool though, it would be a drab world if we all had the same tastes.

"extort" its very essence doesn't sound like the right word to me here. "extract" perhaps works. I really disliked the huge typeface and felt it detracted from the enjoyment of the read. otherwise I think it's a joyful, uplifting piece.

    Ole'

    Ole'!

And next we'll have round two:

Authenticity (Believability or realism) 1 to 20 pts,20
Theme Clarity (relevance to contest) 1 to 20 pts,20
Complexity (Work, plan and style) 1 to 20 pts,15
    Transcendence (Artistic conclusion) 1 to 20 pts,18
Expressiveness (Some say artfully said) 1 to 20 pts =,19
    Audio/Oral (Listening as it's read, allit, asson.) 1 to 20 pts, 20

Sometimes there's a galloping iamb, other times the rhythm seems to start another way and end with a different, so that the beat is, like a dancer, stomping one way and then switching another to stomp in the opposite direction. The poem has a very dynamic, back and forth feel to it, which is exciting.

On third round of judging, I brought my lovely assistant, the fair and wee Annie Franck who is 5 years old. If she likes the poem, that counts for something, wouldn't ye say, mates? Now, Annie what do you think of the poem?

[To be continued as we enter round 3]

I agree with comicrose, especially his word choice for layer of its being; very fitting for a poem with a flower metaphor! Good luck in the contest.

    Beautiful

I can feel it. It is alive and it speaks. It dances in my mind. You can sense it, and it has a rhythm. It is beautiful. Thank you so much for the comment!
