The crash of pain will cry through history,
When darkness covered every crack of light.
It seemed that hate, so deep, just couldn't be,
But there it was, ablaze, before our sight.
At first it seemed the world would surely end!
These ones that went so freely to their death,
were armed with anger's might, they did descend,
to kill the innocent with their last breath.
I do not see that murder paves the way
for any good, no matter cause or creed.
I only see the anguish of that day
that drips from this, the evilest of deeds.
The sky bled hate and death that fateful morn,
America: forever will she mourn.
The heroes of that day are held in time,
With reverence, their stories we impart.
And from our shores, with pride, their names will chime,
The legacies they leave will fill our hearts.
From deep within the belly of the beast,
came tales of sacrifice that stun the mind.
Through these unselfish deeds hope is increased,
Forever with our gratitude entwined.
So many fell beneath the hellish blast
Not going down but climbing to their deaths,
To save another's life with every last
small ounce of strength until their final breaths.
They smite us but the can't tear us apart,
America: her heroes are her heart.

Wow, this was soo wonderful and so powerful. I pray for the victims of 911 and the families. It was such a tragedy. I hope and pray that the families will remain strong together. This is a poem that should be read world wide. Such vivid imagery and such powerful meaning. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless You!!

I can't say that I share the same feeling as all American citizens, it would be impossible to. I do share the feeling of horror and numbeness when I remember the images I saw on TV.
This poem of yours is so intense and although this is a subject that brings up lots of pain, we still see the strength in your words. Well done!
Kisses and love,
Mari

written from the heart of a true hero
this will always stay with us to build us a bit stronger
because of the spiteful hate in other, Americans have
now pulled together and will forever remain in harmony...
it is truly sad that this event took place but somehow God did
show us all how to share our grace and strength
you have mastered the sonnet with this
