The Lost Girl

As the young girl wonders through the streets,
looking lost and so all alone,
tears stream down her swollen black eyes,
she has been tossed from her unhappy home.

The pain can be seen in her green eyes,
her frail arms, they too are black and blue,
she hasn't got a dime to her name,
she feels as though her life is now through.

She is heading for the murky river,
to leave her sorrow and heartache behind,
she is tired of feeling empty and useless,
she feels she is slowly losing her mind.

As she stands upon the cold metal bridge,
she stares at the dark water below,
she takes a step, then pulls back,
thinking, is this what I want, I don't know.

A single light was shining in the distance,
it reflected the teardrops in her eyes,
the light kept getting closer,
then she saw a young man come passing by.

He told the young girl he was drawn to the bridge,
by a voice he could not see,
it was a voice he had heard many times,
as he prayed at night down upon his knees.

He listened to her sad story of her life without love,
he hugged her and told her God had sent him there,
it was only the beginning of a friendship that would last.
as they talked for hours of God's love and how He cares.

God does moves in many mysterious ways,
the wonder of his powers are seen each and everyday,
there are miracles happening all around the world,
and yes, God does listen as we pray.

Oh yes he does!! He has listened to me and answered my prayers so often that I can never deny his existance! This poem is so very honest and true! I love the lesson taught in this! God is here he may not answer your prayers right away or even in the way that you expect but we must keep in mind that God's plans for us are ALWAYS better than our own plans for ourselves!

Well it's nice to hear from you. It's been a little while. Thank you for the nice comment. I am so surprised how many people like this poem. I do hope it can help some of the sad people on here. There are so many. I know of suicide. I have thought of it a few times but the love of my children always stopped me. I loved them more then myself. Between my two marriages I was engaged. If you read my poem "Missing You Bill", it talks of his killing himself. I didn't put it in the poem but he left me pregnant with his child. That was thirty years ago, but the memories linger.I hope all has been well with you. I have been great. My friend live4eternity wrote a poem for me which brought me to tears yesterday. He titled it Sweet Sandygram. He is such a sweet young man. He lives in another state but we talk on the phone. I hope Nat is okay. I miss chatting with her. She is such a warm giving person. Well Elaine, Thank You for listening. You take care, Sandy

Sandy, I have tears rolling down my face right now, this poem brought back so many memories for me, Almost three years ago on Christmas eve, my friend of some 30 years took a taxi ride to Humber Bridge in Hull England, when in the middle of the bridge she asked the driver to stop, as she felt sick, Debbie, my friend then jumped to her death. All this was because her husband used to hurt her so bad, she left behind two young children.
This pice was beautifully written, I wish with all my heart, everyone who feels the need to end their own life, would see a 'light' and someone would appear and make them change their mind.
Speaking as one who actually died of a massive OD but thank God, I was brought back, I know that death isnt the answer to the problems someone may have. God's light saved me, he sent me back, and I thank him for this each and every day.
Keep up the wonderful work, you have such a wonderful gift.
    Take care and God bless
    Elaine

    Wonderful!!!

    From MoonChild55,
Oh you have really outdone yourself here. This is an amazing piece you have written!I recognize that young girl very well...it could've been me before I to had a stranger introduce me to God,just as your friends have led you.I am amazed at the depth of your emotions.I know that God will use this poem to help so many others that don't know God.I loved the ryhming...it flowed naturally. No problems whatsoever.Thank you for your comments on my new poems.Oh,just wanted to let you know that my daughter told me 2 days ago that I will be expecting a new grandchild in May!!!I still keep you and B.J. and all my poet friends, and our troops in prayer. Also did you know that anyone from any walk of life can be suicidal kids, adults, rich or poor..and yes even our very spirit filled, walking with God Apostles. In 2nd Corinthians 1:8-11 Paul says-We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia.We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure,so that we despaired even of life.Indeed,in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we not rely on ourselves but on God,who raises the dead.He has delivered us from such a deadly peril and He will deliver us.On him we have set our hopes that He will continue to deliver us,as you help us by our prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of Many.
So as you can see...all fall short of the glory of God but He's there with open arms.
