quietly you came
and stole
these things from me:
the feet from my heart
the dew from my lips
and the ink from my hand
and yes, king of thieves,
also the sleep from my body
but oh, I am blessed
for in this condition of lessness
sound the trumpets of oneness
you carry my heart amongst butterflies
bedew my lips with wine of light
(oh, I am so drunk with you
I cannot find the way to my mouth)
and with these hands,
with this body
awakened by you,
I write you against the sky
with the ink of light
with the panting cries
of all fires
so that all can read that I love you
in the shadow of butterflies and light
yes, until the last trumpets sound
and the flowers grow over me

this is great! i love this entire piece. it's truly a work of art in my opinion. i'm not good with love poems (in my opinion) so they usually don't touch me but this one did! very nice. keep it up!

My My My, this says L-O-V-E all over it.

Yep, this girl is in love. Isn't it neat that we are inspired to write by our present circumstances or those we have experienced? When someone writes a poem, it tells you a lot about where they are at emotional at that moment. It's obvious you are in love.

cute
wow i love it really good! -
Thank you Raven Aurora, for your lovely comment. Yeah, this year has not been too good for me as well, but there's always hope, isn't it? I wish you many blessing for the New Year
-
excellent
A wondrous blending of options. I have always held the butterfly as a sacred creature, one that will unite lovers near and far. It is very scarce that I find such beauty in a love poem without visiting the doldrums of my broken dreams. This is quite uplifting--something I wish I could've written. I do not get inspired to write about love very much anymore, since I have been deprived of it or any inkling thereof for the past year and a half. Maybe things will get better next year (I'm hoping, anyway).
This is breathtaking. Take care, and I wish you luck in the contest.
Many blessings,
Raven Aurora

"but oh, I am blessed" indeed you are. Very nice words, very touching, very deep.

"I write you against the sky" - that's one of the most amazing lines I've ever read! The whole poem is gorgeous - it's light and floaty, and really whimsical. Like butterflies!
Thank you for the comment you left me. Congratulations to you, too!
Take care. Ali xxx -

Hi Nicolette,
this week I am just under a state of wonderment because of you and Steve...such a rare chance to discover a kind of love like this...that you both share...i am just so in awe! you two made me so lovespell and dreamy eyed...haha...your poetry (Steve and you) spoke of your love...such no ordinary love, so precious, exalted... i am like drifting with butterflies. this time I don't need to read Romance fiction because what I just discovered is real love...you two are just so contagious. And tell you what...do Steve have a clone? naah just kidding...he's one of a kind and he's yours. I wish you with all the love and happiness...and oh this one I like very much!

This reminds me of a Paul Weller song ( one of my musical hero's ). Beautifully written with so much depth - and a very poignant tribute Nicolette. It does sneak up on you suddenly doesn't it ? I loved the ending - made me smile. Die laaste een vir die aand - slaap met n glimlag soos altyd nadat ek iets gelees wat jy geskryf het
( My behandeling van jou taal word al hoe erger - jammer
)

Excellent
Written with such a delicate hand to preserve the beauty of the words you scribe upon this page of love. An endearing epistle from a heart that is obviously overflowering with the joys of love.
Thank you Nicolette for sharing your heart with us all.
Take every care,
Sammy

Lovely Lovely
Very romantic and softly sensual. A treat to the mind and one that is sure to capture that king of thieves without any doubt.
Good luck both of you.

until you a woman
took my hand
