A thousand

One love I gained,
like a heavenly angel,
left me so pained,
in such a mangle.

Everyday I watched,
her hurt by others,
brought on the tears,
hiding under the covers.

Her loving eyes,
her unselfish heart,
her will to live,
hit me like a dart.

And now a thousand tears I've cried for her,
a thousand roads I searched,
a thousand pieces of my heart,
it was here she was perched.
