The sweet shop aroma is thick in the air,
the sugary scent draws me in as I pass by,
looking in the window at all that candy,
my mind is full of thoughts I cannot deny.
There is so many choices, which do I choose,
the camel's, the cashews or the butter cream,
those chocolate covered cherries look so sweet,
will I wake to find it's only a sweet dream.
The shop's fudge display looks mighty tasty,
the peanut and chocolate swirl tastes real fine,
though the butterscotch and maple are good too
then there's vanilla, I can't make up my mine.
The gum drops come in five different flavors,
they have orange,green,purple,yellow and red,
it's beginning to feel almost like Christmas
with visions of sugarplums dancing in my head.
The chunks of peanut brittle are full of nuts,
every color of the rainbow in peppermint sticks,
there's chocolate covered peanuts and raisins,
all looking so delicious, which candy do I pick.
Then my eyes twinkle as I spot the candy kisses
they sparkle wrapped in foil of silver and gold,
the sweet shop lights make the kisses glimmer,
it makes them look like a treasure to behold.

I'm so glad you liked my poem. Hersey chocholate makes Hersey kisses. They are shaped like little pyramids with a little swirl on the top/ . The silver are plain and the gold have an almond in the senter. They are about an inch high. They are YUMMY. That's the history of the Hersey kiss. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Take care, Sandy

Excellent
Peppermint sticks are the best! But I've never had any 'candy kisses' but I definitely want to try them
As usual I love your poetry some excellent images and I love your summary of all of the different sweets and treats - the opening line is great (it sets the scene nicely - ahhh the wonderful aroma of a sweet shop *sniffs*) Great poem!
