yet I know about her troubled past.
I want to reach out and tell her
that she's in a situation of falling fast.
I know what she's going through
for I have been there myself.
I have lived years of low self-esteem
with the pain of love on someone's shelf.
There's not a super quick fix
or an easy answer for complicated days.
Just learning how to deal
can solve problems in several ways.
You start by counting your lucky stars
that you control change in your life.
Then you add people you can talk to
who doesn't judge for speaking your mind.
Sometimes a stranger helps most
by lending an ear and offering support.
You only need to believe in yourself
as it will help you to achieve in life more.
Stand tall and stay firm
allowing your confidence to build inside.
Never surrender or give up
doing what you think is right.
Author notes
Dedicated to Sheryl. I just came back from a weekend at Kentucky Lake. It was an enjoyable weekend since I left in the afternoon on Friday. Part of the weekend brought up personal issues from one of the people there. I wrote this poem for a lady I have never met, but I do understand her situation from my past experience with Shelley (my ex-wife). I do hope that she is able to keep getting stronger and to regain her self esteem (definitely something I can relate to for not having any for seven plus years).
