The Beast

\Frankly, I ask myself
what is the nature of this beast,
that drives us to opening our
hearts to complete strangers,
to digest,

is it an inability to criticize
our own abilities, or have we
become blind to our own failings
and shortcomings,

do we love the adoration and
praise, are these our just
rewards for time well
spent,

remember when thoughts
chased around our heads,
as a fox after the rabbit
finally managing to capture,

exultant in the finished
work, drained, exhausted
and complete, open
to public view, we await,

The beast emerges to
give judgement...................... \

Author notes

Please dont think this is pointed at you the audience, just my interpretaion of waiting for the judgement. The \

    Captured

This poem was phenomenal. Simply breathtaking in it's ability to strike a (very loud) chord. I love poetry that makes me think. i love how it stews in the back of my mind, and I think I've found my second poem today that can (and, I'm sure) will do that. I loved everything from your word choice to your flow. This poem has a definite depth and a certain character I can't quite place my finger on. Well done. Thanks for the thoughts.

Why do we keep looking? Why does our ego have to be stroked, we can only find our own happiness. We can't find theirs and they can't give us ours. Everyone is so deep in writing today, well done at making me think.

    Excellent!

This was something to ponder on for sure.. And you leave me with your words to do just that! I love the stanza below the best...No doubt the whole piece was great as well!

Thanks for sharing, and I like your style.
