Disappearance

Like the Statue of Liberty
I absolutely adored her.
But I had to set her free
for I no longer mattered.

She carried my heart
safely like a torch in her hand.
Then she shredded it apart
throwing pieces to sea and land.

She burried what was love
inside her steel cold frame.
Letting me know I wasn't enough
to maintain the spark of her flame.

She never once turned around
as we parted ways.
She was planted firmly on the ground
as I disappeared with yesterday.

Author notes

Just like ice to water, sometimes love changes.
