allpoetry

i am leaving Allpoetry.  I think that if you have been on this site long enough, you can surmise why.  I find the site ludacris and based on competition.  It is a nice place to be for awhile, but i read about misery, there is no hope here.  You all need to find yourselves some hope, and call me in 10 years.  In the meantime, i encourage you to expand your horizons, to look to the stars, and to always trust your intition.  If your heart breaks, be strong.  There is a God...and He is always there.

What you say is half true, but I also agree with...whoever it was before me that said 'you don't have to join the contests'. You don't. It's a choice. And I think it's funny when people take losing in them so seriously. It's all in fun. I'm sorry you feel the need to leave because of it. Thanks for liking my story! (too bad I haven't had time to write anymore of it)

    Grow Up!

That's not true. You can't say that the entire site is contest and whining. You've won so many contest and whined yourself. The mature way to handle this would be to just leave the site, not put on a public show all for the sake of some cheep attention. If you think that there should be less of people whining, then stop whining about the site being full of people that just want to get their feelings out. That was just fucked up of you to say that about people that use this site as an escape. Whatever.

I've been there, I've left twice because I feel people don't really read my poems, they just look at the form or whatever, they don't really feel or try and encourage me. I always come back though, simply because I love poetry and there is no one in my life (family, friends, etc..) who is really into poetry, and I strayed away from writing before and hope to never again. Even if you leave allpoetry, don't stop writing.

    Megan,
I don't know that what you say is true.
Sometimes people need others to help them to find God.
Sometimes people need others to keep them from hurting others.
There is a place here for everyone. You don't have to compete in contests if you don't want to.

Thank you for reading my poetry in the past.
    Hope you do well.

    im sorry

Its true. Allpoetry does have A LOT of competition and everytime someone makes a contest and people loose... its lowering their self esteem. If I didnt need to write to let it out.. I would not be here. I do like it here, but i think its wrong to criticize peoples poetry by not giving them recognition. I realize I am being a hypocrite by making contests of my own, but I have never given a trophy to someone who has more than 2. Not because of you, but for other reasons I am contemplating deleting my new contest that I just posted today. Thank you for helping me realize some stuff about allpoetry by your resignation. You were a great poet and I will miss your work extremely.
Good-bye and good luck in your life.
