Welcome, Baby Cakes

Here you are before our eyes

a long awaited pink surprise;

Each part of you put in its place-

is cookie-cut from God’s own face.

Mama loves to touch the toe

from tiny piggies in a row;

Skin that smells of honey peach

smooth to touch and in my reach.

Now rock-a-bye my little peep

so I can watch you as you sleep-

And dream your life will always be

a tender prayer that’s part of me!

Author notes

I also have a new  grand nephew!

    Wow I so love this. A baby is such precious gift! Your write brought back memories of my own children and their births. Excellent write, flow and rhythm.

    You've been Hood-winked!!!

    So touching...it reads with the ease of a lullaby. Lovely flow and rhythm, simply lyrical. My youngest is fascinated with her "piggies" so this will be another piece to read to her today. Wonderfully written!

    BEAUTIFUL

    I like this poem. I felt the love with every word and i know that each word was chosen carefully... Although my poetry and yes I do call it poetry, slam poetry at that so get it right next time. Im not sorry if i offended anyone, my poetry is not meant for "little ones" and if they read my shit then thats their damn fault. just cause my poem doesn't rhyme or any of that other bullshit doesn't mean its not a poem. its a poem because its MY poem. check the grammar and spelling? this isn't fucking english class, so if you have anything else bad to say about my poetry, you can tell it to the sky cause i don't give a fuck!

    Golly, thank you. Mine is a great nephew too. I liked your read and darling comment. The 'cookie-cut' came to me as I realize that God is our first Father and we're completed from his image..makes it so intimate and us so special.

    Love the 'cookie-cut' part. However did you think of that one? Makes the descriptiveness come together in a unique way. Rose

    Aw- a sweet and tender poem, my favourite line was the second one, that was beautifully written and quite original. A sweet poem, I can imagine this being read/sung to a small baby or child Keep up the good work
