Rebel of Gravity

Unto this angelic heart
that refuses to bend or
yield to those things
that never seem to
change

A quest for gold
without weight,
that cannot be
reshaped into any
other thing than
what it has always
been

Like moon-light upon still waters

What perhaps may be
nothing more than another
reflection

Undiminished and infinite

Led deeper into these tracks
of ineffable beings,
Strewn amid these
membranes of shadows
of night

Those hand of a muse
that treads o'er water,
and thus bewitched-
I fly o'er myself curled
deep into the palm of
a soft hand

Aloft and aloof,
unto this homeland
where both heart
and soul become
liberate

It has never so much been what
I adore as why I adored it
so

In the assault
of dark Morphine castles,
against those things that have
seemingly e'er held reign
o'er my dreams

I contend against my own
demons- In daily
attritions of ground both
gained and lost, I have
never been afraid of the
darkness inside of me

But I have succumbed to it
in a silent and bitter sort of
rage

Hell is a place of utter powerlessness.

I have always had a weakness
for spiritual music, though religion
never really entered into the equation

I can hear Morrison singing

"We chased our pleasures here
Dug our treasures there
But can you still recall
The time we cried
Break on through to the other side."

And I am struck like a matchstick,
fresh fuel and that mischievous
sort of magic- To alight those
tapers of passions and
let them burn

In a quest for gold
without weight,
that cannot be
reshaped into any
other thing than
what it has always
been

Like moon-light upon still waters

I become a rebel of gravity.
