I'm finding this world
won't bend to my will.
So I'll wrap it up in words.
My sole possessions.
My only proof.
And maybe they can help me
find
what I've lost;
remember
what I once knew;
recover
what I can only survive without.

The innocence
lost in haste
but sorely missed in reflection.

The hope
beaten down by legions of cynics.

The resolution
anemic from disappointment.

I must find a way
to get this blood off my hands,
this dust off my soul,
these crushing shadows out of my heart.

RETURN
Push the doors wide open.

BREATHE
Run with the wind.

AGREE
Chase the sunshower rainbow.

FEEL
Delirious bliss.

SEE
Impossible colors.

LET GO
Shed this gray film.

FORGET
Laugh at the sun.

FORGIVE
Find the hole in the garden wall.

Author notes

I hope this helps cheer you up, my friend.  You can't keep a good (wo)man down.  I know you'll be fine.  Everything moves in circles and what you are missing now will come around again, if you allow it.

Peace and love and lots of other good stuff,

Mark

"the innocence lost in haste, but sorely missed in reflection"...we are young but once, and all we want is to hurry up an be an adult....and then all we want is to be young again.
This piece is profound and well written. Gives this reader many things to ponder on. I enjoyed the read and its impact on my thoughts.

Beautifully executed poem, the progression is natural and builds to a brilliant end. The first stanza draws one in, and the rest delivers on the promise of a great read. I love the message- wise words, indeed. Nicely done.

    deep

I walk down a road and fall into a hole. The next day I walk the same road and fall into the same hole. The day after I walk the same road, see the hole, try to avoid it but still fall in. Tomorrow I shall walk a different road.

I loved this deep thought provoking write Mark. Liked where it took my thoughts and especially loved the way you ended it on an upbeat.
