This haiku is beautiful Susan... your last line brings all the senses into play whereby your reader actually breathes in through the nose to experience the joy of the essence of the rose's fragrance.

    Well Done

A tasteful use of words! It expressed your picture quite nicely (Had to wipe some drool off of my lips )

A touching nature haiku. The flower is very pretty and your word choice is good for something so refined. It feels fruited and powerful....Very good haiku in our opinion....Of course we know nothing about haikus in general but we think you at least did a fantastic good with what you have here.

    beautiful.

it didn't prefectly fit haiku form but w/e. i personoly do not like hiakus because they are incredibly limiting (although i don't like free verse either which is the least limmiting). I how ever enjoyed this...short poem.

wow.... what a beautiful photo.... wonderful work.

    Golden blooms
    soft petals unfurl
    fragrance released~

    a tiny thought though.... I don't think you need the word "released".... unfurl does the job already and why muddy up such a great word as "fragrance"? It also gives a smoother tail to the breath when reading aloud. So;

    golden bloom
    soft petals unfurl
    fragrance

    love ya,

    Don

ps.... also, I removed the "s" from blooms..... as there is only one rose in the photo.... lol.... I love messing with these little gems... hope you don't mind.

I am always amazed by haikus. I have no talent for them, but you painted this with exquisite ability. Quite a lovely look at my favorite color of rose.

Hugs and love sweetie...sorry you have not been well. Listen to the doc though and try to stay away from the computer.

    Dear Susan,
As I haven't heard from you for ages and you haven't read or commented on any of my recent poems, it's a joy to see you writing again, especially in haiku form which is one of my favourites.
And it is a beautifully expressive haiku which covers the three main attributes by which we judged roses in rose shows:
colour, texture and fragrance. Of course texture covered freshness which was always of paramount importance. Applause,
    Love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

    Wonderful

    Hi Susan:
You said it all in this one. Definitely a wonderful flower, kinda reminds me of the song "Yellow Rose of Texas". Lovely picture to add to this wonderful write. Thank you for sharing your talent with us one more time. Bill

What a beautiful image this haiku creates, much like the picture above it. I like that you incorporated color (golden), texture (soft), and our most important sense - smell (fragrance). With this short but deep and very well-written piece you welcome your readers into the world where roses never wilt, only smell beautifully day and night.
Do I have to say, I'm enchanted?
Terrific piece. I might just go to the store and get myself a rose to smell all day.
    ~Anastasia
