Tribute to DeeCrepit (sonnet)

To stand upon the mountain peak requires
the painful climb from valley down below.
Experience of life, it ne'er expires,
and wisdom is what we must live to know.

DeeCrepit stands above to point the way,
exhorting love and patience under stress.
Her muse has given sonnets which display
that little birds with inspiration bless.

The clever use of words is her delight,
applauding humour of her AP friends,
she's champion of all with failing sight,
and good contrasting colours recommends.

Her life of many years has brought some pains,
but in her writing beauty lives and reigns.

aww. What a great tribute... I especially like the first stanza, because it has great rhythm and talks about rising in such a powerful way.

Great job here... keep on writing.

awesome sonnet....i love sonnets....your tribute is amazing, i can see inside of my mind, a master of literature standing atop the world stage, governing by rules of peace and integrity....(much better then Bush and his illiterate ramblings)....awesome job, I am going to have to check out Deecrepit.

a lovely tribute to a wonderful and warm sweet person I am with decrepit on the colours I often have to highlight poems to read them. I wish people would be more considerate while choosing colours.

Awwww, and ode to a sonnet writer written in a sonnet. How appropriate. Also, good meter and rhyme.

    Stunning!

What a beautiful tribute to DeeCrepit and the last two lines are awesome:
"Her life of many years has brought some pains,
but in her writing beauty lives and reigns"
What a stunning way to end such a heartfelt verse. Well done,

    ~Samantha

A tribute perfectly worded.... but more than words.... way more. Nicely penned to an obviously special person to you, your life and your writing.

what a delightful tribute, as ever in awe of those who manage to write to a structure and rhyme without making it sound trite and forced,

    thanks for sharing this

I am overcome. Love you all! Especially to Peaseeker who did this wondrous thing for me, and to Red Scorpion and LondonRuler who are so young, and are the future of this great Art. I started young too, back when inkwells froze in classrooms in the winter and WW2 had not started yet. To be so lucky to have AP, it is such an incredible advantage for you now. Your skills will grow so much sooner with a place like this to share. No one even saw my stuff even long after I had children of my own. Thank you, YesYouCan and Mary6, and my special inspiration, Maatkara! Bless you all.
Absolutely nothing like this has ever happened to me before.
What you see in me has to a considerable extent been the result of being here with you. Alone I would have "tended to my knitting" as so many others do.

Oh, and Peaseeker, check out contest http://allpoetry.com/poem/732080 about Elizabethan sonnets! Right up your alley! Today!

Yes, S2,L4 is a little awkward. I have to go see what she said about her muse, and see what our two muses come up with!

    Wonderful!

Oh yes! Magnificent tribute to the wonderful doyenne of AP! . Beautiful sonnet, M, you've done her proud. Your summary in comments is perfectly accurate also.
    (Does S2,L4 need a tweak?)

    Excellent

I went to visit DeeCrepit to see of whom you write. When I saw her age of 74, I smiled to think that's how old mother would have been this October. What a lovely sonnet for a lovely lady who has her masters, has taught and plans to out live her peers. How lovely as I just remembered my mother wanted to teach French. To Ontario to have tea with DeeCrepit and thee is where I'd love to go. Until that time I will have to settle for tea with y'all on AP.
