Girl sitting over there in the corner
Don't I know you?
No, I've never met you before
But I see what's behind your eyes
The eyes that try so hard to mask the pain
And I recognize the laugh
That’s just a little too loud
You're trying hard not to let it show
Girl sitting over there in the corner
May I sit with you a while?
Sure, you look busy talking
To the people you call your friends
But I can feel what's behind the laughter
And I hear those pauses in your speech
As reality stabs you in your heart
You're trying hard to pull out the knife
Girl sitting over there in the corner
Can I go home with you tonight?
Yes, I realize you don't know me
But I think I know you
I know if we talk we'll find we share
The same hopes and fears and dreams
I'd let you know you're not alone
You've found someone just like you
Girl sitting over there in the corner
Won't you take my hand?
I've had enough of this party, sitting by myself
I can tell you concur as you nod in agreement
to the man at your side
You've had enough too; this is the end of the ride.
Girl grab hold of me before I walk out that door
Go home alone, spend the night on the floor
Writhing in pain, agony, despair
Because no one saw the girl over there
In the corner alone surrounded by friends
So tonight in tragedy the girl's life ends
