A Girl's Best Friend

Shimmering softly upon a silver plaque,

The heart is golden,

The body embedded with a phosphorescent star,

Fragile hands grasping a precious gift,

Looking down it brings a smile,

An emblem of love,

Bringing two people together in unity.

Once it reaches a certain age things change,

It may be more delicate,

And more precious than anything,

Unconditional love is felt,

Every time you need it.

Through sorrow and pain,

In rain or shine,

It surely brings a smile,

As it comforts,

Bringing solitary to the beholder,

And once you are attached it loves you back.

Diamonds do all of these things,

But what I see here is

Love between a mother and daughter.

Author notes

this is dedicated to my mother

this wwas beautifuly writen...and the love between a mother and child...well there si nothing like it at all. i lost my mom due to cancer, in 1997. i was 24, and it has left a huge void in my life. this poem was so wonderful to read, just being able to see someone love thier mother as much as i love mine. well done and never stop writing with your soul!
