All my life I was surrounded,
by people who devoured my soul.
They kept taking for so many years,
it finally had taken it's toll.
I began looking for strength,
just to make it through the day.
Then I heard the call from Jesus,
My salvation was on it's way.
He made me feel I was somebody,
I would not be weak anymore.
He gave me so much confidence,
I was so much stronger then before.
Now they can not take my soul,
from their grip I've broken free.
You picked me up,made me strong
because I gave my soul to thee.
I was lost with no hope in sight,
then you sent a dear friend to me.
because of his love and kindness,
I'll have a brother for eternity.

My friend Jason, a fellow poet (live4eternity) held out his hand to a complete stranger and led me to find God. I will always cherish his kind and gentle words. Though we have not met yet, we regularly talk on the phone. God bless you Jason

Sandygram I truly love your poem "YOU RAISE ME UP". You are a true survivor that understands personal sorrow.In Isaiah 43:2-4 the word reminds us of how much God does love us. He says fear not for I have redeemed you;I have summoned you by by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters I will be with you;and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fires you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God,the Holy one of Israel, your Savior ;I give Egypt for your ransom,Cush and Seba in your stead. Very nice write here. You wrote this about Jesus but I also think that many people could relate it to another special person in their life. Very nicely written. One thing I noticed was in line 4. I think "was" is supposed to be "has". Otherwise very nice work. I liked it. Thanks for entering!
