At the foot of the hollow and rolling hills,
I hear the call of the bob-whites and the whip-or-wills.
In a pool of rippling water the cattails stand
Silence and stillness amid a wind tossed land,
Minnows are chasing all about a race thats never done,
Clear in cool shallows, under a humid sun
Water filled with plants a rich moss green,
Snakes and bullfrogs down paths unseen
Tired old cows come to the muddy waterside
Wades out and cools her tired burning hide
Tree frogs break out in a joyous song
Fireflies hover and float in plants along the way
Summer ponds settles down to sleep
Just awaiting another day.
