Conformity

Conform not to society
Which promises you'll be free.
But in true painful reality,
It is a slave you'll be.

"Drink till you're drunk indeed.
Of all your misery you'll be freed.
Sex, like food, is an unmet need
Seek all pleasure! To every desire, heed!"

"Seek power with all your might
There is no wrong. There is no right.
There is no God to give cause for fright
Walk not by blind faith but by sight."

"Love is not to be unconditional
Morals are merely traditional
They are subjective and conditional
To be broken at any whimsical "

Conform to your loving deity
Who promises you will be free.
Live in true peaceful reality,
Then free from slavery you will be.

"Be sober! Walk with me. Let me lead!
Of all your misery you'll be freed
Sex is only a desire not a need
Seek pleasure in me. Love my law and heed!"

"Be humble and I will exalt with delight.
Do not do wrong. Do what is right
For I am God and give cause for fright
Walk by faith and not by sight."

"My love is truly unconditional
My morals are transformational
They are solid and foundational
Born from a love, exceedingly personal"

Author notes

Some of my beliefs in poetry form that confront the lies of society. It is not intended to condemn anyone. It too is a call to forgiveness and grace.

Amen. I was worried where this poem was going for a bit there. I hoped it was going to be a satire. I like the way you have it formatted like a mirrored reflection. One view shadows the other. Very creative and I love the message.
