8 - Strength

Courage - Inner Strength

The guardian on the threshold
    awaits to test your nerve
To see if courage is behind it
    that will help you to serve.

There are many seekers
    who grow faint at heart.
But those who pass the dragon’s test
    must show strength right from the start.
~ ~ ~
Let your inner forces guide you…
    your intuition take a stand…
Don’t grow weak or faint of heart
    and build your dreams out on the sand.
Proclaim your ground to others.
    Announce how is it that you view.
Persuade them with your courage
    and help them see it too.

Author notes

I wrote this series last summer and began posting them. I took the prose version of the Celtic Dragon Tarot interpretations and put it in verse form. I'd also included the illustrations, but was asked to remove it because of the copyright infringement. I'd given full credit to Conway and Hunt and didn't claim them for my own, but there were apparently other legalities.
So...for the legal beagles out there.... These are MY words, although they were inspired by Conway.

more to come....

    didactic piece of poetry.

    there are a couple of areas where it would be simple to tighten up the metrics:

    To see if courage is behind it (tetrameter)

    To see if you have the courage (trimeter)

    ++++

    must show strength right from the start (iambic-anapeastic trimeter)

    must show strength from the start (iambic trimeter)

    ++++

    There are some other areas i could comment on, but i'd end up soaking a lot more time into this post than I'd like. Good luck!

    Another well-written poem. My courage is in short supply. I need the strength that's in this card.
